The Premise
Based on the world of the Azriel Blackheart books, Blackheart combines action RPG and top-down shooter elements to tell a tragic tale centred around the royal Blackheart family and the internal conflicts that are consuming them from the inside out.

Blackheart is based on two books; Azriel Blackheart: The Dark Mage, and Azriel Blackheart: The Chosen.

Kiwi Game Developers
Our studio started in 2020 in the small city of Dunedin, New Zealand, with the aim of creating beautiful, mysterious and emotive games that stick with our players forever.
CODE Grant Recipients
Our team earned a $190,000 NZD grant from the New Zealand government to pursue Blackheart’s development.
This grant was aimed at emerging studios who are seen as having high prospects for growing the NZ game industry.
Kiwi Game Starter Finalists
Blackheart took bronze in the 2023 Kiwi Game Starter awards.
This award included a $10,000 prize, which we are using to bring on a part-time community manager:
